FREE Student Heart Screening in Longview
This Saturday, February 1, 2014, I am partnering with Longview Regional Medical Center to bring a mobile heart scan group (Championship Hearts Foundation) to Longview! Because of generous donors, each screening will be FREE to ANY student ages 14-18. Our goal is to scan 300 or more students on this day. CHF will provide equipment and medical supplies. In addition to the facility, LRMC will provide cardiologists and techs to perform the scans. We will also have pediatric oncologist referral details for any student(s) that need it. Of course the best thing would be that no one has heart issues detected from the screenings. But the next best thing would be to detect anything that can be fixed!

There is research that shows that 1 in 250 students are at risk for sudden cardiac death related issues. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and most cardiac abnormalities cannot be detected with a routine sports physical. Take the opportunity of a FREE heart screening for teens ages 14-18.

The Championship Hearts Foundation’s Young Athlete Screening model is endorsed by the Texas Chapter of the American College of Cardiology as a quality initiative. Championship Hearts Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency dedicated to saving young lives through heart research.
